Hi All
We had a great trip to the Las Vegas Regional. Lots of good robot play, fun interaction with other teams, a couple of nice dinnertime team outings (and a couple not so memorable ones), and a little Las Vegas style fun.
Especially for parents that weren't along on the trip, I want to note that our students behaved admirably at and away from the competition. Everyone behaved with responsibility and maturity, and we didn't spend any time missing the fun and dealing with misbehavior. Thanks to students and parents for this.
Our next competition road trip, and last one for the school year, will be to San Diego the weekend of May 19-21. This is a very "light weight" trip - low cost, short, and easy prep. It is the "Battle at the Border", hosted by San Diego area FIRST teams. It's lots of fun if you don't like to sleep - basically an all night game and pizza party on Friday at a high school gym, followed by the competition all day Saturday, then Saturday evening beach trip and dinner, overnight in a hotel and return on Saturday. The cost will be somewhere around $100 per person, maybe less, and the usual CRUSH $ policy will apply. More details as we get close to the date and make final arrangements, but please check your calendar and see if this is going to work out considering finals, graduation, etc.
Between now and then, we have some work to do. Kareem performed well in many games this weekend, but ultimately had some mechanical issues that we need to deal with before we try to compete again. More information about this will be sent on the "build" list. We'll resume our meetings on Tuesday and Thursday, and odd Saturdays. This weekend being the second Saturday of April, no meeting. Saturday meetings from now until the San Diego trip will be April 15 and 29, and May 6.
Thanks again for everyone's support on this trip.
Bill
