Hi team

Despite earlier notices about not meeting this weekend due to the holiday, we've decided to meet with those who can be available. The reason is the limited time we have left for planning and working towards goals for beginning the fall CRUSH season.

Tomorrow's meeting will start later and be shorter than the regular Saturday meetings. We'll start at 10:30 and only go until noon or so. For students (mentors welcome too) that want to do some mechanical work, I'll be there at 9:00 to work with you. But starting at 10:30 we'll shift to planning mode, and it's fine to come only for that part. The primary goal of the meeting tomorrow is to decide as a group what we want to do, and what people, time and other resources are required, to accomplish a successful fall robotics recruiting goals.

Specifically, we'd like to host the Robolympics again, following its great success last year, during the same weekend as SSA open house. Holding these two events simultaneously enables them to attract for each other, leveraging advertising campaigns, and increasing the effective coverage of both. The idea has been proposed to add a carnival style event, with game booths, both as a fund raiser and interest-awareness raiser for robotics. Some of the games can have robotics aspects. In addition we'll repeat as last year with food concession and invitational robot exhibition competition with area teams.

Last year's Robolympics required a lot of effort to put together and run, and this year will as well. We don't want to plan something bigger than we have resource to do, so at tomorrow's meeting we'd like to assess what level of team participation and interest there is in doing this, then size the plan to that level of resource.

If you have interest in working on this as part of the team effort, I urge you to try to attend the meeting tomorrow. If you can't, I request that you contact me by phone (520.743.8062) or email (bill at wizardofaz.net) to save me the effort of a followup call to you. I also know many people are still on this email list (there about 70 on the list) even though participation and interest in CRUSH has ended. If you'd like to be removed from the list, please tell me about that too.

I hope you're all enjoying the summer, and hope to either see or hear from many of you this weekend.

Bill
