Hi all
We're less than three weeks from the robot ship deadline. We have a lot left to do, but great progress recently. Our drive chassis design is complete with a prototype built and functional, and the competition version nearing completion. The lifting apparatus is coming along too, but it will be a few more days before we can try the first lift. Software team has the vision system tracking color pretty well and they're starting to work on the multiple target problem. Animation is looking real good and will get done by it's deadline. The web team too has made more progress on the web design, and they promise to upload a new version to http://teamtest.crush1011.org very soon (maybe today). Admin team sent a newsletter home yesterday. Great work everybody!
We are tentatively planning to attend Duel In The Desert on February 17th, the Saturday before the robot shipping deadline on Tuesday the 20th. This event is a practice competition on a partial field in Phoenix, and a chance to see how the robot performs on a semi-real field with other robots. It's also fun. Soon we'll figure out who's going, arrange transportation, and request permission forms from parents. Watch for it please.
Parents should know your students are working hard and doing a great job. There is always some pressure at the end, so expect your kids to come home tired and late (or ask to be picked up late) now and then between now and February 20. Watch our progress at http://photodump.crush1011.org.
