Dear students, mentors, parents, and other friends of CRUSH 1011

ATLAS SHIPPED
We did it again. It was hard, but our robot Atlas is in the box and shipped to Phoenix on time. Some final assembly will be required at competition, which will likely come with a few new issues to resolve, so we're not home free yet. But we should be nothing but proud of the effort and result of our build season. See some photos of the last days of work on our photodump, http://photodump.crush1011.org.

POST-BUILD FUN
The team had a very interesting visit to Evergreen Air Center last Wednesday. We got to see jet engines up close as well as visit the cockpit of a large aircraft. Due to camera restrictions, there are not many pictures, but we did get permission for a few. Check out the photodump (link above). On Saturday we had more fun, with almost 20 team members and families attending the Funtastics outing. Everyone had fun boating, driving, and putting. All the pictures are on Mimi's camera, which I hope to get soon.

FIX-IT WINDOWS
According to FIRST "fix-it" rules, we have the opportunity to make replacement or improved parts, and work on software, during two 5 hour meetings any time between Thursday morning this week and when we leave the following Wednesday afternoon. To make good use of these limited periods, we'll meet tomorrow (Tuesday) after school to plan the work. At that meeting we can decide when the two 5 hour periods will be and what will get done by whom. I will be out of town all day Saturday and half of Sunday, so to the extent I am needed, we need to schedule outside of that period.

PHOENIX COMPETITION PLANNING
Our trip for Phoenix competition is next week. The team will travel by van, leaving after school on Wednesday March 7. The competition is Thursday-Saturday, March 8-10. We'll return Saturday evening, probably around 6 or 7 pm. Over the next few days we need to determine exactly who is going in order to finalize transportation and lodging arrangements. If you plan to go make sure Margaret knows it. If you are going but not traveling with the team, we need to know that too. The details of the trip cost and the value of CRUSH hours will be announced shortly.

Thanks to all for making our build period successful. We could not have done it without the dedication of students and mentors working long hours, and parents that kept us well fed. Great job everyone!
