Hi Team and families

Tomorrow, Wednesday, we leave for our competition trip to Phoenix. This is what we've been driving towards and I'm confident we're ready to go have a great time at it. Last weekend was the first round of regional competitions in other cities and at our meeting yesterday we spent some time watching webcast videos from those matches. It looks like our lifter strategy will certainly be a winning one! Virtually all games where two robots were lifted were decided by that maneuver, and most even if only one bot was lifted. So let's get up there and get it put together, and win some games!

Here's a summary of the trip, especially for parent info:

Leaving Wednesday, March 7, right after school, traveling in two rental vans
Returning Saturday March 10 in the early evening (5-8 range)

Lodging is at
La Quinta Inn Phoenix Thomas Road
2725 N. Black Canyon Hwy.
Phoenix, AZ 85009-1897
Phone: (602)258-6271

Phone numbers

Michael Eckelbarger 520 834 2163
Margaret Reynolds 520 229 7751

Preparation:
- TELL YOUR TEACHERS that you'll miss school Thursday and Friday and get assignments that you'll miss
- attend our last meeting after school today to help pack, as well as time you can get away during the day today and tomorrow (lunch or study table if approved by the teacher)

Pack:
- clothes and personal items for three nights and four days
- make sure to include your 2 new CRUSH shirts and a prior year shirt if you have one. If you don't have these, ask Bill
- sleeping bag or blankets - we will be four to a room to keep costs down and some students will end up on the floor
- a still or video camera for those that want to help photo the event
- some extra money to spend if you want, but none will be essential beyond the $180, which many of you have fully covered with CRUSH hours at $3/hour

Friends and family that want to visit during the competition are welcome Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. It's free except for parking ($5). Location:
Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Phoenix State Fair Grounds
1826 W. McDowell Road
Phoenix, AZ 85007
