SSA's SUCCESS

Sonoran Science Academy's 5-8th graders participated in the AMC 8 (American
Math Competition 8) this fall. Over 147,210 students from 2,235 schools
nationwide participated in this competition. Students at Sonoran Science
Academy- Tucson did extremely well. 7th grader, Richard Spence, was the
only student to have a perfect score in Arizona and 8th grader, Zachary
Becker, was one of two students in Arizona to miss only 1 question. Sonoran
Science Academy received an Honor Roll distinction and is 1 of 2 schools in
Arizona to receive this distinction. Sonoran Science Academy-Tucson, which
recently received the "Excelling" label from ADE for the 3rd consecutive
year, has historically done well in the AMC 8 competition. In SSA's 6 year
history this is the 3rd time a student has received a perfect score. In the
2003-2004 and 2004-2005 school year a student of SSA received a perfect
score and was invited to meet Governor Napolitano. Congratulations to our
Math Team students and to their coach, Mr. Bahar!
