Hi Builders
We'll, we came close to making the goal for this week - to have all the
subsystems assembled and working to some degree.
Our chassis is looking pretty good. All six wheels are on and aligned.
Electronics board is built and wired. The machine drives pretty nice.
The collector is mounted and we actually put some balls in the hopper with
it this evening. But it's far from done. I think it needs the following main
things still done:
- move the roller back an inch or so, to get better ball contact with the
ramp, and more clearance from the bar above the roller.
- finish tweaking the shape and position of the ramp
- install a deflector at the top
The ball hopper likewise is installed but work remains
- it still jams - best idean here is to make it more narrow at the bottom so
there is only one layer of balls
- the springs are mounted to the robot but not the hopper basket, that needs
to be done
- the winder motor, pulley, cables are not done at all
The shooter shot some balls today using the fiberglass chute. Pretty nice to
see that working again. We still have to figure out what wheel surface will
grab the bal well but not damage it
I'm pretty optimistic that we'll have a cool machine, but good team focus
will be required to see it through.
The good news and bad news is that there are only two more weeks, then it's
all over. Let's make it happen together.
Bill
