re-reading the rule again, I note that it says the shooter shielding must prevent contact with other robots. I think the intrinsic design does prevent that except if the other robot somehow reaches inside our space - which is not permitted. So maybe we're OK.... I would argue that our shooter's fiberglass chute largely shields the shooting mechanism. If they require something to be added, it would be a shield of some kind over the top of the wheel, as that's the exposed moving part. 

<S03> The SHOOTING MECHANISM must remain inside the ROBOT - Any mechanism used to throw balls

must be contained within the original 28" x 38" x 60"starting envelope of the ROBOT and must be

shielded such that the mechanism cannot make contact with other ROBOTs. A ROBOT that violates this

rule will be considered unsafe per <S01>.

  Leslie and I were talking about it and she came up with the idea that they probably want the shooter mechanism shielded from outside and non-ball inside items from entering the shooting chamber.
