BILL,
We need more Teflon Stick to make spare bottom chain rollers.
Since we were borrowing main link clips from old parts, we might need spare
chain, half and full links with clips and cotter pins.
Some special grease from either a motor cycle or bike shop would be nice.
The below links talk about using W-D 40 to clean and special chain oil for
greasing.
Below is an interesting site on chain maintenance.

Do we have spare speed controllers?
TO ALL BUILDERS
We need to find out about the regs. for using hand grinders, chop saws,
welding equip. and
Propane torches.
I'm not positive, but I think Joe still has it in mind to (heat mold)
another shooter wheel cover.
I personally think that we need to do something that does not use up so much
time. I'm also not sure that they want us using Propane torches.
We only have a certain amount of time and need Joe and Korbin to help with
more then the shooter at the competition. It won't look good if the mentors are
doing what students should be.
I know that there has been little participation Thurs. and Fri. but, we have
only done a minimum amount of planning for methods of building needed or
replacement parts at the pit area before or during comp. I feel that we should
be prepared to manufacture and know how prior to getting there. There should
be more then one method for each, in case the preferred does not work or takes
too long. Planning ahead of time for all possible contingencies would help
us save valuable time. We don't want to run to Ace Hardware any more then
needed at comp. Let's try to think about what we need and bring it.
WE SHOULD SET LIMITS ON TIME that we can take to make the roller, shooter or
dumping
work. If they can't be made to perform satisfactorily, within a reasonable
time limit, then we should (Temporarily) remove or disable the part. If the
roller can't be made to work reasonably then we should remove it and add an
angled board at top to human player our basket. If the basket won't dump we
should remove the motor and springs and fasten it down,
Using the shooter and collector. Since there is a possibility of being
overweight, we should take the time to plan available options as to what we might
remove and at the least talk about the method of removing that part or parts.
At best practice removing on one of the prototypes.
We should know who could and would be able to repair, restore and build.
Who can and would be able to run for parts.(If Needed). Assign student
runners for necessities from the trailer, Pit area or stands.
The team and Mentors should discuss what is reasonable for working and time.
Set those guidelines and run with them.
The Programers have spent much time on Kareem and have not had the
opportunity to place the camera and test. They need to be given the time on Thurs. to
do this. That means that we need to not spend more time then necessary
building other components. It also means that if we must disable another portion of
the Robot so they have their deserved time. then we should.
We also have other non Robot building priorities to take care of.
i.e.: PIT BOARD
Trash & Trinkets
Pit Planning
???
Other positions:
VIP Reps
Safety Captain
????
We should plan for these contingencies and not wait until the comp. to spend
time discussing our options.
Let us plan ahead and be as prepared as possible for this competition.
We should have at least one meeting (soon) in a class room to discuss what
we will be doing at these competitions and what our options are. This is not a
rookie team. Past competitors and mentors have info to share with the newer
students and mentors.
Can we set a day and time to get all Mentors and Students together? All
those planning on going to the Competition should attend.
LACK OF PLANNING WILL BE SURE DOOM AND GLOOM.
