[CRUSH-build] driving the collector drum with a belt

As I recall you wanted a 2x gear increase to speed up the roller and decrease the diameter. To get the gearing right you'll have to get a bigger gear on the motor than what comes stock. Consider the stock gear motor the smallest diameter you could use on either shaft and to get 2x you need a bigger gear on the motor. Just want to make sure that was understood.
For shooters we opted for direct drive to eliminate components and complexity - gearing occurred at the wheel diameter only. I suggest we keep this path. As an industry rule, after the design is decided we only change if it's necessary. Making it a little better just wastes time. Remember - better is the enemy of good enough!
I saw the pictures coming out - things look good! Hope to see some more on the chassis and other design areas.
Cheers,
Wes

Subject: [CRUSH-build] driving the collector drum with a belt
I think we will drive the collector drum with a belt rather than chain.
Quieter and more efficient, probably lighter. The CIM motor comes with a
toothed pulley for driving a rubber belt. If it hasn't been lost we'll put
it back on. The belt and matching pulley can be bought from
motion-industries. Maybe you shooter guys want to consider this option too.
